Journey Project

This is the visual part of the first big project at University. The aim was to create a project which includes a written element of approximately 1000 words. I know this is a simple solution and this is because of the tutors ever repeated recommandation to keep things simple.

I had a  tutorial yesterday and the result was confession on the tutor side that torturais are aimed at confusing us students even more and that anything we do that is beyond the briefs initial intent is very welcome.

To this image which will be printed as an A2 poster I hope to attach a short written explanation (not because I have to but because I should...).

It's like im on fire

And I hope i won't be totally burnt down (as often happens).

These are my submissions as of this 16:49 to a Lacoste competition. I am hoping to produce more designs by tonight.

brief in a nutshell: 100px x 100px only using red blue white and green (one tone only).

They will announce short listed entries tomorrow -  fingers crossed.

Result of my treasure hunt brief

I went into town and visited various locations.
in each location I took a photo. Each photo is a response to a brief. Each brief is a clue to a location.

Inspired by the playful nature of the game [treasure hunt] I bought a rabbit mask which features in all photos as a unifying object for the project. Features in each photograph is a single wooden stirrer which is hidden for the viewer to find.

A stirrer represents the creative person - who essentially stirs shit.

Evidence in a proof

We have been assigned to go around London and find some 15 hidden treasures.

One of the is the Bride Library a Print Library (apparently the largest in the world).

I went hoping to come up with an idea for proving I was there.
Luckily Helen Ingam was running a workshop there tonight.

Prompt and Feedback

The interaction class was very informative. I agree with the criticism regarding my A4 design from the beginning of the week - It is in need of a user feedback. An amusing term used was 'slightly sadistic' and that referred to the fact that I instructed the user to destroy a piece of paper without a point.

We continued to design a mini program which consisted of a single mouse click and a resulting feedback.

It was suggested that I make some changes like put an illustration of a hand near the button instead of the big magnified display. I am not sure about that as I like the play on words (exit vs. out) and think this may be lost.

Nearly right...

Screen printing - work in progress.

x
Induction to screen printing, we're only making patterns with existing bits of clear film prints. Good fun so far :-)

Interaction brief

My design following the interaction brief:

The Brief:
Choose one interaction from the following list and print or draw (no text
allowed!) on a single sheet of A4 paper in such a way that prompts a user to do whatever you have chosen
to the piece of paper: Tear (how?), Draw (what?), Fold (how?), Put somewhere (where?), Give to someone
(whom?). Be prepared to test your interaction with one of your colleagues on Friday morning.

Letterpress induction

Such fun!

Typography presentation

I decided to talk about the price of the font family ff scala.
It is equivalent to:
- 4 pair of shoes from M&S.
- Return flight to spain and a 3 nights stay at a 4* hotel for 1 person.
- 1 Nintendo 3DS + 2 Games

It went down well and got us talking about the subject.
